This was posted here as an 'eyes free' technique that might be explored for those without sight. (whom I HOPE are not driving - though I know a few who have tried) Gregg ----------------------- Gregg Vanderheiden Ph.D. ------ I suppose some people in that situation could be iPhone users... google iPhone Braille. Hmm. "Invisual: a full-body silicon cover for the iPhone with modified bas-relief buttons, each corresponding to a modified home screen. Using text-to-speech and moon-type tactile feedback, the case promises full iPhone functionality to the sightless, including multi-touch and finger flick scrolling." But mostly I figure either you got the phone before you became blind, or it's shared with a sighted person, or it's a competition prize, or having the new cool stuff is way too important to you. (In my opinion. I'm British.) I think the UK situation is that in law you can use a handsfree phone while driving, but television and radio(?) spots are run saying don't, it's dangerously distracting. Conversation with a passenger is nearly as bad but I haven't seen that one, if you don't count an incident in science fiction show _Primeval_. Someone on radio just apologized for their driving "I usually drive an automatic", and I thought once again "An automatic car should be you get in and you say where you want to go." And if you want to use a phone it's fine. I suppose if I believe this service should be available, I should drive a taxi. TapTapDial also could be useful while running, if you want to use a phone while running and you can spare the breath. In that case you could also optionally dial the phone by shaking it, or do you get that anyway? Or maybe a motor disability and the same set of "and you have this particular phone because?" reasons I already proposed.
