RE: [UACCESS-L] Correction re Credit Information

I've contacted Lainey separately and it isn't my intent to have the list follow my personal request for a credit report.  That said, I did want to update and say that today in a separate mailing I did receive the braille credit report that was done very nicely.  Not sure why it was sent separately but all in all, the process did work here.  I made my initial request by phone on 12/23.  My original mail was based on receiving a print copy of the document yesterday with no indication that a braille item was still on the way.

My thanks and congratulations to one and all for the progress on accessibility here.  I recall commenting on this a few years ago when the law was introduced to give consumers free access to their credit reports.  See http://blog.kellyford.org/archives/2005/12/easier_for_who.html.  It is nice to see this issue actually getting something accomplished.

Thanks Kelly. I've written you off-line, but I wanted to send a quick note to the list as well, to say that we really need this kind of information to make sure the process is working as it should. I'd appreciate hearing about any problems with the systems now in place for obtaining accessible reports on line, or Braille, Large Print and audio reports by mail. Even though there is a Central Source for ordering the free annual credit reports, each agency has its own process for delivering credit reports. If you write, please let me know which credit reporting agency you were trying to obtain a report from. (The three involved in this initiative are TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian.)

Thanks so much to Kelly for bringing this to our attention.

For what it is worth, I ordered a braille copy of my credit report recently. While the process for ordering and selecting my alternative format of choice was straight forward, the end results were disappointing as today I received a print copy of the report. I see no way to report such an error or otherwise rectify the problem or order a replacement from the same bureau.
Thanks,
Kelly

Dear colleagues: The recent email about accessible credit report information did not contain the link to information on how to order the reports. Here is a summary of the information with the correct links. I'd welcome feedback from people on this list about both the on-line accessible reports and the alternative format (Braille, Large Print, and Audio) reports.

Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience of two emails, Lainey

Summary of Accessible Credit Report Information
