[SEC508] Section 508 Training Day 9-26-08

Section 508 Training Day

When: Friday September 26, 2008; 9AM to 4PM

Where: U.S. Census Bureau Conference Center

4600 Silver Hill Road, Suitland, MD 20746

Conveniently located at the Suitland Metro Station on the Green Line.

Driving directions are at: http://www.census.gov/main/www/cbmaps.html

Why: This is an event organized by the U.S. Access Board as part of our commitment to provide training and technical assistance on Section 508.

Who is invited: This is open to everyone: federal employees, contractors, industry, advocacy organizations and consumers.

Cost: The training is provided free of charge. However, you are responsible for paying for your lunch and refreshments, available at the cafeteria within the building. Remember to bring your own pen and paper or note taking technology.

What can I expect?  The training will devote several hours in the morning to review many of the specific Section 508 Standards.  The afternoon will address testing, e-learning, agency implementation, the 504-508 connection, and other issues. There will be several Q&A periods to encourage discussion.  The trainers will represent multiple federal agencies and departments. Audio visual presentations will be used and will be available in electronic form upon request afterwards. We are not planning to provide handouts.

Accommodations: Interpreting and CART services will be provided.  Requests for other accommodations should be made to the Census Bureau Disability Program Office as soon as possible. Disability Program Office staff can be reached at 301-763-4060, or via e-mail, hrd.disability.program@census.gov.

Videoconferencing: The event will be broadcast to other locations throughout the country; however, there are restrictions on the number of connections available. Anyone interested in participating via videoconference should provide their contact information, including ISDN#, to the Census Bureau Disability Program Office, hrd.disability.program@census.gov, at least one week prior to the event.

Registration: There is space for over 300 people in the room. Advance registration is requested to help prevent going over that number.  Please preregister by sending an email stating the names of the people coming and the organization with whom they are associated to David Baquis: baquis@access-board.gov or you may call me with questions: 202-272-0013.  People who provide their email addresses will receive an advance agenda.
