RE: [SEC508] Supplier for

There is no such thing as “508-certified”.

“508” isn’t necessarily equivocal to “accessible”.  Compliance with Section 508 is based upon a government agency purchasing the most accessible product which meets its business needs.  Those business needs may be such that there is no product which meets the all (or any) technical provisions of Section 508. For example, I’m aware of several instances where an agency had a special need for which only two vendors on earth made a product to perform a specialized task. Neither product could even dream of being accessible.  The agency can be said to comply by virtue of the fact that they did the proper market research to show a product doesn’t exist which meets the technical provisions.

Someone just asked me if there is a software supplier that sells 508 certified software.  Anyone ever heard of such a supplier?

Sincerely,
