Assistive Technology Programmer

SSB has an immediate opening available for an Assistive Technology
Programmer. The programmer will perform a variety of consultative and
programming activities for clients in the greater DC area. The Assistive
Technology Programmer will work directly to write and maintain JAWS scripts
and accessibility related code and deliver onsite consultative advice for
SSB's client base.
Qualifications
The Assistive Technology Programmer will be a key player in SSB's client
services team and may grow into a variety of different rolls in SSB's
services organization. SSB's culture requires a disciplined self-starter
with lots of energy and high integrity. This position assumes 3 or more
years of experience in a technical consulting role. Specific qualifications
are listed below:
* Required Skills
* 3+ years experience in software or web programming.
* Technical familiarity with Windows based software including
standard Windows API functions, and development tools such as Visual Studio
and Microsoft's Spy++, and a software language such as JAVA, Visual Basic,
C#, or C++
* Technical familiarity with software development lifecycle
and systems integration processes
* Strong written and verbal skills
* Desired Skills
* BS or relevant degree in computer programming or management
information systems
* Familiarity with relevant accessibility standards including
WCAG, Section 508 and related standards is a plus but not required
* Familiarity with assistive technologies including JAWS,
Window-Eyes, Dragon Dictate, MAGic and / or ZoomText
* Familiarity with the JAWS scripting language
* Knowledge of software version control systems
Responsibilities
The Assistive Technology Programmer will create and deliver accessibility
programming projects for SSB. The Assistive Technology Programmer will
utilize SSB's standard for code creation. This will include tasks relating
to:
. Groundwork and Testing Activities
o Creating use cases for an IT System
o Creating a test set for an IT System
o Managing customer review and approval of groundwork test set
o Creating a project plan for code implementation
. Programming
o Creation of new code
O Maintenance of existing code
o Creating robust code that will run on different system
configurations
. Documentation
o Preparation of code documentation and description of functionality
o Preparation documentation of keystrokes and user documentation
