The Federal Reserve Board is seeking an Accessibility Specialist (a newly
created position):

Job Duties:
Provides Board staff and contractors (e.g., writers, editors, content
contributors) with a facility to request information and assistance in
complying with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Applying an
explicit knowledge of the accessibility requirements relevant to the
Board, ensures that web applications and content conform to current
Section 508 accessibility requirements. Provides consulting, training,
and documentation for staff charged with meeting Section 508
accessibility requirements for electronic documents posted on the
Board's public web site (PubWeb) and intranet. Acts as the central
point of contact for information concerning accessibility issues and
solutions.
Special Training:
Must have comprehensive understanding of the requirements of Section
508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and how they apply to federal agency
business operations. Demonstrated experience with assistive technology
(e.g., screen readers, accessibility validation tools), HTML coding,
CSS (stylesheets), and software (e.g., Dreamweaver, Javascript, Adobe
Acrobat, Flash), and file and media formats. Bachelor's degree,
preferably in web development/design, graphic design, computer
science, or equivalent experience. FR 24 requires two years and FR 25
three years of experience in implementing Section 508. Excellent oral
and written communication skills, customer service orientation, and
the ability to solve customer problems in a timely manner a must.
Prefer knowledge of XML and experience using content management
system.
Remarks:
Supports validation of accessible content prior to posting on the
Board's public web site (i.e., conducting HTML, PDF, and CSS
validations). Analyzes new content for conformity to established
accessibility requirements; advises staff in the solution of
accessibility problems; and works with designers, editors, and authors
to devise approaches to presentation of text, tables, and charts to
best meet accessibility requirements. Conducts accessibility audits of
existing web content. As necessary, oversees the conversion of
documents and checks for consistency and continuity to Board
accessibility standards.
