- Thread-topic: 508 Architect opens a no-holds-barred discussion on accessibility issues
Doug Wakefield may have retired from the Access Board, but accessibility is still very much on his mind. He has begun a very interesting, (and of course very accessible) blog on the topic of accessibility issues concerning people with visual impairments. In his own words from his first message, "If you are unfamiliar with the topic, the focus is on issues surrounding people who are blind gaining access to highly graphical visually oriented information technology. For those who are familiar with this subject, I hope we can have a thoughtful in depth discussion about such issues as; Is equivalent access a practical goal? What motivates people with out any type of disability, to get passionate about other's access? What area's of technology access are being glossed over and why?" Given Doug's decades as an expert in this field, and his straight-forward style, I believe this should prove to be an interesting and lively forum to discuss issues of interest to all of us. To join the blog, go to http://dougwakefield.net/discussions and go to the Register link to sign in. After providing a user name and email address, a password will be emailed to you which you can then use, along with your user name, to log in to the blog. When you log in with your user name and password, you have to click on "View site" to go back to the blog page where you can read the posts and comments, as well as add your own comments should you desire to do so. Welcome back, Doug; we're glad you didn't stay away too long. Don Barrett
