RE: EITAAC families Subcommittee
I'm sorry so many had to leave early on Friday. We only had a relatively
small number of committee members left when the three existing
subcommittees were formed -- definitions, generic technology, and families
of technology. Whether these are the most appropriate subcommittees
cannot be determined as yet, but they are obviously producing a lot of
discussion. Much of the discussion may be off the track that leads
directly to standards-making activities, but I feel that it is helping to
get some important issues on to the table.
To help pull the discussion on the Families Subcommittee into a direction
that will lead as soon as possible to a point where we can begin to
consider needed standards language that can be recommended to the Access
Board, I have asked Randy Dipner to act as subcommittee lead. I know he
will attempt to drive the taxonomy of technologies being considered under
the {families of technology" discussion down to a set of fundamental
elements (or building blocks) that can be dealt with in a reasonable
manner in the process of developing recommended standards.
In the mean time, I will be lurking here as an observer and will
contribute my ideas only as one more participant when I feel I have
something substantive to contribute.
